Flight Cancelled Due to Bulbul Cyclone, Airlines Offer Waivers

Flight Operation at the Kolkata airport has cancelled due to Bulbul Cyclone. The busiest in eastern India, are going to be suspended for 12 hours starting from 6 pm on Saturday because of severe cyclone ‘Bulbul’, home ministry officials said.

The cyclone is expected to make landfall on the West Bengal coast this evening.

“Due to terribly severe cyclone ‘Bulbul’, operations at Kolkata airport is being suspended from 1800 hours (6 pm) on November 9 up to 0600 (6 am) hours on Nov 10,” a home ministry official said.

Severe cyclone ‘Bulbul’ at 1430 hours (2:30 pm) weekday lay regarding ninety-kilometer sou’-sou’-east of Digha, eighty-five kilometer south of Sagar Islands and 185 kilometer Southeast of Kolkata.

Heavy to extremely heavy rainfall, in the middle of winds reaching up to 120 KMPH and tidal waves up to one to two meter, is predicted whereas the cyclone is expected to make landfall on the West Bengal coast at around 2000 (8 pm) to 2200 (10 pm) hours on Saturday.

The National Crisis Management Committee (NCMC), the country’s top body to handle any emergency, on Saturday reviewed the state to deal with the very severe cyclone ‘Bulbul’ over the Bay of Bengal which is probably going to affect coastal districts of West Bengal and Odisha.

Meanwhile, carriers like IndiGo and SpiceJet are giving refund and waiver of Flight Cancelled Due to Bulbul Cyclone from Kolkata.

India’s largest airline IndiGo on Saturday tweeted: “Due to cyclonic storm bulbul we are offering waivers cancellation/rescheduling fee for travel on 9 Nov’19 &10 Nov’19 for all flights to/from Kolkata.”

The airline, in another tweet, also shared a link to opt for alternate options or refunds.
