Kochi Airport suspends operations till Sunday due to flood alert

Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) has announced a suspension of all operations till 3.00 pm on Sunday, August 11, 2019. The decision has been taken due to flood alert and waterlogging in the runway and airport as a whole due to incessant rains in the State.

CIAL had announced temporary suspension of the operations between 6 pm and 12 midnight yesterday. Considering the flood alert in the areas around the airport, the airport company has decided to extend the suspension of operations till Sunday.

Kochi Airport was closed during the same time last year as well for almost a week after water logging due to history’s worst floods in the State.

Meanwhile, Kerala government has asked tourists to stay away from hill stations like Munnar and Northern parts of Kerala which are under flood scare after landslides in the higher reaches.
